Grades 2 to 6 - "Building a Dyke" ($3.90 per student - guided)
This activity lasts 45 minutes. Students will learn how Acadians used the reclaimed marshlands around the Baie Française (Bay of Fundy) and le Bassin des Mines (Minas Basin), by building "aboiteaux" (Acadian sluices) and dykes to drain the land and to stop the sea from coming back on the land at high tide. Students will work in teams of four or five to discover how to build a dyke. This program utilizes Lego bricks. Students will also have the opportunity to see a full size model of a cross-section of a dyke as well as an aboiteau dating from 1686 and found in 2006 not more than a kilometre from Grand-Pré National Historic Site.

Grades 4 to 9 - "The Mysterious Mixed up Artifacts" ($3.90 per student - guided) Indoor activity that lasts 45 minutes. Imagine life in 17th and 18th Century Acadia through its artifacts. Objects made by humans represent a complete gamut of activities; among them, the most fundamental are linked to our essential needs: eating, drinking and protecting ourselves from the elements. Even without written documentation, objects can speak eloquently about their users. Students will help uncover the past using the systematic approach of the archaeologist: practicing focused observation, classification, and comparison, in a team-work context.

Grades 5 to 10 - "Discover Grand-Pré" ($2.90 per student - not guided) Indoor and outdoor activity that lasts 45 to 60 minutes. Observe and explore Grand-Pré National Historic Site. The activity is done in small groups.

Grades 7 to 12 - "Deportation: 1755" ($3.90 per student - guided) Indoor activity that lasts 45 minutes. The goal of this activity is to provide students with a more personal comprehension of the events of the 1755 Deportation. This is accomplished by each student taking on the role of an Acadian living in Grand-Pré at the time, and working through the events, from being called to the church where the Order was read out, to their arrival in the colonies.
