Born in Saint-Boniface (Manitoba), Victor Tétrault studied at the Collège de Saint-Boniface and at the University of Manitoba. After obtaining his degree in Education, he taught for several years before accepting a position as a Social Sciences Curriculum Consultant for the French Education Section of the Manitoba Department of Education. In 1982, he was promoted to the position of Director of the Official Languages Programmes for the Manitoba Department of Education. As a result, for many years he was responsible for the negotiations and the administration of the Federal-Provincial Agreement for Official Languages in Education on behalf of the Province of Manitoba. En 1991, Victor Tétrault and his family moved to Nova Scotia. In his capacity as Education Officer in the French Section of the Nova Scotia Department of Education, he had the opportunity to meet many Acadian teachers and to visit all the Acadian regions in the province. Since his retirement in 2001, Mr.Tétrault has worked as a private consultant and has done numerous projects for Parks Canada. The Société Promotion Grand-Pré is very pleased that a man of the calibre of Victor Tétrault has accepted the position of Acting Director. The Société Promotion Grand-Pré is a non-profit organization representing the Acadian community that collaborates with Parks Canada to ensure the development and integrity of Grand-Pré National Historic Site.
