The foundation of the "Société Nationale de l'Acadie" goes back to the first Acadian Convention held at Memramcook in 1881. Approximately 5,000 persons from all over Acadie participated at this meeting. La "Société Nationale l'Assomption" was created at that Convention.

La Fédération acadienne est un organisme sans but lucratif qui agit à la fois comme groupe de pression et à titre d'organisme porte-parole de la population francophone de la Nouvelle-Écosse. Grâce a des initiatives d'envergure provinciale, la Fédération veille à ce que la population qu'elle représente reçoive les services en français auxquels elle a droit. De plus, elle travaille à obtenir les ressources nécessaires au développement de la communauté.

"Le Courrier de la Nouvelle-Écosse" exists since 1937 and its founder is Désiré d’Eon.
