Grand-Pré (Nova Scotia)
July 11 2007 - Société Promotion Grand-Pré invites you to
celebrate Acadian Days at Grand-Pré on Saturday and Sunday, July 21st
and 22nd.
Saturday
will be dedicated to talks on the Mi’kmaq presence and the interactions
between the Mi’kmaq and the Acadians. During the evening, there will be
a talk about the cemetery of the old Saint-Charles-des-Mines Church,
followed by a program featuring poetry and music by Georgette LeBlanc,
Alexandre Bilodeau and François Gaudet.
On
Sunday, the program begins at 11:00 a.m. with a mass,
celebrated in French, by Father Maurice LeBlanc and accompanied by the
Chantensemble choir from La Baie Sainte-Marie. During the
afternoon, there will be several kiosks offering food fare, and arts and
crafts of all kinds. There will also be activities for children. The
program under the big top will include music by
Weldon Boudreau and his group of
musicians from Île Madame, the Acadian
dance group DIXACADIE from the Pubnico area, and the musical trio
Christal and Johnny Thibeau accompanied by Wayne Dugas. Weldon and his
young daughter Josée will also involve the children in a musical
adventure.
Rain or shine, activities will take place as scheduled,
