  • Canada Day (free admission)
    A birthday cake and refreshments will be offered to visitors.

July 16

  • Canada's Park Day
    • A national day, dedicated to showcasing parks and historic sites in every province and territory of Canada. On top of the usual interpretations, visitors will be treated to special activities that will be given at regular intervals between 10 am and 4 pm.
       
    • The making of linen
      Discover how a flax stem can be transformed into beautiful linen material. This interactive activity will please visitors of all ages.
       
    • Discover our Acadian kitchen garden
      A guided tour of our Acadian kitchen garden. Find out what was planted, how and why. This interactive activity will please visitors of all ages.

    The archaeological digs, directed by Jonathan Fowler of Saint Mary’s University, will take place daily from July 18 to August 3.

      • Unveiling of the exposition of the Grand-Pré Parish Registers
        These registers, which chronicled the life of the Acadians of Saint-Charles-des-Mines from 1707 to 1748, were saved from the destruction of the 1755 Deportation. After having been in Maryland for about ten years, they were taken to Louisiana where they are still being protected in a climate-controlled vault at the Archives of the Diocese of Baton-Rouge. Advancements in technology have made it possible to produce high-quality reproductions, which will be on display along with the original leather covers. The unveiling will take place in the Visitors' Center Exhibition Hall. The registers will be on display until September 5.

  • Acadian Day (Grand-Pré welcomes its Cajun cousins)

      • Pilgrimage from the Deportation Cross to the memorial church at Grand-Pré National Historic Site. This pilgrimage will retrace the steps of Grand-Pré Acadians as they left their village to be deported in 1755 . It is organized by Jean Gaudet.
