- Unveiling of the exposition of the Grand-Pré Parish
Registers
These registers, which chronicled the life of the Acadians of
Saint-Charles-des-Mines from 1707 to 1748, were saved from the
destruction of the 1755 Deportation. After having been in Maryland
for about ten years, they were taken to Louisiana where they are
still being protected in a climate-controlled vault at the Archives
of the Diocese of Baton-Rouge. Advancements in technology have made
it possible to produce high-quality reproductions, which will be on
display along with the original leather covers. The unveiling will
take place in the Visitors' Center Exhibition Hall. The registers
will be on display until September 5.
